In view of recent legal actions against criminal networks the ICANN Security Team have released a paper on Domain seizures (449kb, pdf)
The (technical rather than legal) paper provides some basic information on procedures to register domains and a checklist of information to submit with a legal or regulatory action. All based on US law.

The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center has been appointed by ICANN as the exclusive provider of dispute resolution services for trademark based “pre-delegation” Legal Rights Objections under ICANN’s New gTLD Program. This service will resolve disputes between applicants and third party trade mark owners who feel their trademark is infringed upon by the TLD applicant.
